文化ショック I

マレーシアと日本では一時間の時差があり、日本では午後五・六時ごろに太陽が沈み、朝、五・六時ごろに太陽が昇ります。
Even though the time difference between Malaysia and Japan is only one hour, but the sun would set around 5/6pm and rise again around 5/6 in the morning.

私が思うに、日本人は夜が好きです。
It appears to me that the Japanese is night lovers.

多くの都市は午後五時から深夜一時までにぎやかになります。
The cities are awake and busy from 5pm to 1am.

駅では、十、十一時頃に、たくさんの会社員が帰るところを見ることができます。
You can still see a lot of working adults going home at the train station around 10/11pm.

なぜマレーシアではこの現象が見られないのか？
Why can't we see this in Malaysia?

日本では最終電車が一時二十分頃まであるのに、マレーシアでは十一時頃だからかもしれません。
Probably, that's the reason the last train in Japan is around 1.20am where as the last train in Malaysia is around 11pm.

夜に出かけると危ないでしょう？
Isn't it dangerous to be out at night?

私の意見として、原因の一つは、日本の都市は九時・十時以降でもにぎやかなのでおそらく軽犯罪があります。
One of the reasons, in my opinion, the cities in Japan are still busy at night after 9/10pm probably because there is little crime in japan.

マレーシアみたいじゃなくて、日本では夜コンビニに行っても、安全に帰られます.
Not like in Malaysia, it is safe to walk out alone to a convenient store and be back in one piece in Japan.

これは日本人の文化に大きく影響されます。
It is greatly influenced by the cultural traits the Japanese hold.

日本は恥の文化からです。
Japan is a shame-sensitive society.

例えば、傑出することや家族の恥さらしとなることなどを避けようとします。
For instance, there is a much greater emphasis on not standing out or doing anything which will bring dishonor to the family.

しかし、面白い矛盾があります。
However, there are a few interesting contradictions.

日本での現金自動預入払出機は24時間制じゃありません。ほとんどのは9時から5時までです。
1st, The ATM machines in Japan is not 24/7. Most of the ATM machines' operating hour is from 9am till 5pm.

友達から聞いて、犯罪率を減らすために、このポリシーが持っています。
According to a Japanese friend of mine, they are having this policy to minimize the crime rate.

私にとって、子の考えなんか変です。世界中でほとんどうのは24時間制ですから。そして、日本は一番安全な国だと思いますのに。。
This is quite bizarre in my opinion because most ATM machines around the world are 24/7 including Malaysia and Japan is probably the safest country in the world.

私にとって、日本でのが24時間制じゃありませんから、めちゃ不便だったです。
It was very inconvenient for me as it is not 24/7.

日本で犯罪率は低いのに、セクハラはどこにでも見られます。
2nd, despite there is only little crime in Japan, sexual harassment is pretty common in Japan. In Japanese, it is called Seku Hara.


込んだ電車の中の痴漢はよくいます。
The most common place to be sexually harrassed is in the train, when it is packed of people. Those who sexually harass other passengers in the train are called Chikan.

セクハラされない人はにほんでなかなかいません。先生から聴いて、ほとんど女性は一回以上痴漢を会ったことがあります。
It is very common to be chikan-ed in Japan and according to my sensei in Japan, almost every female in Japan has been chikan-ed for at least once in their life.

女性だけじゃなくて、男性も電車の中でセクハラされることがあります。
It is not only on girls, guys can be chikan-ed as well.

しかし、日本で犯罪率は低いのに、時間に経つにつれて、ここ数年犯罪率はだんだん増加していきます。
However, it is shown in the news that the crime rates are increasing as time passes due to various causes, for instance economic pressure.

つまり、日本でだけじゃなくて、どこに行っても、気をつけたほうがいいです。
All in all, even though Japan has little crime but it does not mean that we can let our guard down.
